Animal-Assisted Therapy can support individuals who enjoy spending time with animals, perhaps may have become discouraged with therapy or are looking for an addition to their therapy. Both people with and without disabilities can access and benefit from Animal-Assisted Therapy.
Cornwall House OT is pleased to be one of the first places in WA where you can access Animal-Assisted Therapy. Dash is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has been in training since a puppy so that he can help to develop children and adults:
Humans and Animals have a unique bond which is capitalized on during therapy sessions. Dash has an innate desire to be with people and please them, which means he enjoys the therapy sessions as much as you do.
Contact us for more information or to book in and meet Dash
Following the assessment (if necessary), your OT will discuss the option of participating in individualised OT sessions.
These sessions are tailored to suit your goals. Both of our offices (Bassendean and Yanchep) have specific clinic spaces ready to help you meet your goals.
Parents are welcome to attend sessions with their children if they wish or alternately, children can be dropped off and picked up after the session.
Contact your health insurance provider to see if you are eligible for a rebate, or your GP to see if you are eligible for an “Enhanced Primary Care Plan” which can provide you with up to 5 sessions at an increased Medicare Rebate Rate.
You do not need a referral to come and see us. Contact us to have a chat, or arrange session times.
Groups are run during the school holidays are are tailored to the development of specific skills such as handwriting, fine motor skills, pencil grip, gross motor skills, social skills and sensory regulation.
These groups are fun and allow children to enjoy their school holidays while inadvertently developing their skills.
We maintain small numbers in our groups so that we can give each child the attention they deserve.
Contact us to find out details of the groups available, if you would like to book a place for your child or if you have any questions.
Have an idea for a group, let us know!
