ASSISTANCE ANIMAL APPLICATIONS

Assistance Animal Applications

Have you ever thought that an Assistance Dog would be good for your or a loved one?

Cornwall House OT offers Assistance Dog Assessments.

These assessments include providing information on how Assistance Dogs can assist people, organisations which assist people to get Assistance Dogs, an overview of the process as well as Applications to the NDIS for Assistance Dogs.

With the experience of running Animal-Assisted Therapy, working closely with Assistance Dog Trainers and also involvement with not-for-profit supporting agencies, we have carefully collected the information, research and evidence-base to provide you with a strong foundation for assessing and applying for Assistance Dogs.

Best of all, these services are available to everyone!

Just like you would refer out for a specific assessment for home modification, hand splinting or postural assessment, our Assistance Dog Assessments work the same way. You can keep your regular therapy team and we will work alongside them to support your application to be the strongest it can be.

A full assessment for an Assistance Dog will take approximately two (2) hours, depending on the complexity of the individual, and provision of supporting documents such as functional assessments from existing therapists, plus report writing time.  However, if you are at the early stages of the process and would just like some information, then feel free to contact us for a 'consult session'.

Services are available via Telehealth for those out of the travel zone and unable to come to the office.
